Filmed in Las Vegas, USA “We Never Close” focuses on Las Vegas as the primary site for power’s achievement and theorization now. Las Vegas enjoys its traditional status as the exemplar of materiality of power, a place where power is made ‘real’ as spectacle, and where an economy of images easily correspond to unconstrained illiberal will. And so it goes, the truth of Capital is revealed as ‘spectacle’, alienation and mass consumerism. However, when art, capital and power come together these correspondences are wrecked and with it those rationalizations of power. The authors of this new spirituality direct us to new spaces of power, of abstract determinations without rational ground; new sites of pleasure and violence.
